Shamit Mukehrjee, who resigned
as a judge of the Delhi High Court in the wake of
DDA scam, was today arrested by
CBI, agency sources said.
Mukherjee
will be produced in the court tomorrow.
The Central Bureau of Investigation today
carried out searches at the residence of former
Delhi High Court judge in connection with his
alleged involvement in the DDA scam.
The
raids were conducted after the investigating
agency registered a case against him last evening,
CBI sources said.
The name of
Mukherjee figured in the
scam after
CBI
recovered some important files pertaining to the
DDA cases from a guest house in Asiad Village.
Mukherjee,
who resigned immediately after the scam broke out,
has denied any involvement in the case.
The
former Delhi High Court judge had cited illness of
his wife as the main reason for his resignation.
However, it is believed that
CBI director P C Sharma had
met the Chief
Justice
of India immediately after the agency recovered
some important files from the guest house. (PTI)
